Argumentative Essay The morality of killing bugs has been a big discussion for many years. But for Arvind, the answer is quite obvious. One day when he was brushing his teeth he saw something black in the sink. When he realized it was a bug he quickly plugged the sink, cut off the water, grabbed a piece of toilet paper, and fished the bug out of the sink. At first, he thought the bug had died, but then he saw it start to move. He had saved the bug’s life! â€Å"I was filled with relief and joy and my happiness surpassed the level of my sadness from only a few seconds before†¦The rest of that day I was on a sheer high†(Evalia). Also, many bugs are decomposers and help get rid of dead animals, plants, etc. â€Å"The group of organisms called decomposers forms the final link in the food chain. They break down dead animals and plants and return vital nutrients to the soil†(Batema). So decomposers are important because they return the nutrients, needed for healthy plants, back into the soil. Vegans always talk about how people shouldnt kill animals. Then why do vegans never say anything about bugs? Bugs are animals too. â€Å"Every human being directly kills bugs just by walking - and indirectly kills bugs by renting and buying constructed housing. Yet Ive never heard even a strict vegan express a word of moral condemnation for this mass animal killing†(Caplan). PETA claims â€Å"the determination of when lethal defense against insects and animals is acceptable must be judged on a case-by-case ba sis, taking into account the level of the threat and the alternatives that are available†(PETA). So PETA is basically saying that the morality of killing bugs is judged by the situation. So basically, if a person killed 100 people it would depend on the situation if it was okay or not.
